Wonder what to expect and what I need to bring?

Kitchen:

We consider the kitchen fully stocked for most anything someone would need. Expect standard things like a blender, mixer, toaster, oven, microwave, drip and Keurig coffee makers, Ice maker, dishwasher, pots, pans,  and utensils. We have some spices and seasonings for our guests to use, but we can’t guarantee what is there when you arrive, so bring any special seasonings you need. You will also find a few coffee pods in your gift bag to get you started. 

Outdoor kitchen:

We have a gas grill with side burners for your enjoyment in the outdoor kitchen. There are utensils in the pantry for the grill to assist you with that perfect grilled fish, shrimp, steak, or whatever your heart desires. The kitchen has oversized stainless steel pans for the side burners on the outdoor grill to get your shrimp boil to the perfect temperature. You shouldn’t need anything except aluminum foil, depending on what you are making, and natural gas means never having to mess with empty propane tanks. 

Pizza Oven:

We have a natural gas stone pizza oven for your enjoyment with all the stuff you will need to make a fantastic pizza. You will find a pizza dough mix for your first pizza on us in your gift bag. You will need whatever toppings and sauces you want to add to your pizza to make it to perfection and more dough ingredients for those follow-up pizzas. The process is a bit of a learning curve so expect a few experiments before you get the perfect pie. Have fun but be mindful the pizza oven gets extremely hot; please keep the little hands far away while in use. Please do not put anything besides homemade pizza in the pizza oven.

Fire Pit:

A natural gas firepit in the backyard is perfect for drying off after getting out of the pool, making some perfect gooey smores, or sitting around the fire telling stories. To operate the fire pit there is a valve handle on the side that faces the back fence. Turn the valve slightly while holding a long lighter in the center of the glass beads, and move the lighter flame around until the gas lights; you can then set the amount of exposed flame with the same valve. Careful, Port A’s wind can be spontaneous at times and change directions in a split second, keep the little ones a responsible distance from open flames. We try to keep the long lighters in the outdoor kitchen cabinet, but they sometimes run out and aren’t replaced, so you may plan on bringing one or picking one up in town. Don’t forget to get all the makings for smores, our grandkid’s favorite evening activity; honestly, we enjoy it just as much as they do. 

Bedrooms:

All the bedrooms have king-size beds; the primary bedroom also has a sleeper sofa. You will find additional sheets, pillows, and cases in the closets in each bedroom. Expect a TV in each room with cable tv service and Netflix loaded and ready to go. Got a device with a service you want to use instead, no problem, screen share from your smart device to the smart TV’s. Each room has a ceiling fan on a separate wall switch to ensure your sleeping comfort; not enough fan noise? We get it.. Check the closets for a complementary oscillating fan. 

Kids:

This property has a pool, so kids should never be left unattended. We know how curious they can be; that’s why all the doors leading to the pool area have a safety lock, and the fence gates are locked. We have a crib in the bedroom closet closest to the hallway restroom for your use and plastic plates and cups in the kitchen, don’t forget to bring your sippy cups and infant items as needed. We have nightlights throughout the house, and you might even find a bag of popcorn in the gift bag for that first movie.. There are some pool toys in the storage bin by the pool; however, what the give-and-take system has at any given time is random. I would plan to bring toys as needed to enjoy the pool, but evaluate it when you get here; there are plenty of shops in Port Aransas that sell beach and pool toys.

Please note this is not a kid-proofed house. Curious fingers get into all kinds of things; please keep an eye on them at all times. 

Parking / Garage:

There is parking for two full-size vehicles in the driveway and one in front of the house. This is our second home, and we like to stay in the house when guests are not; thus, the garage is full of our stuff and unavailable for use. 

Restrooms:

Think of the toiletries provided as what you would expect to find in a hotel room. We provide an initial set of toiletries for your visit, including bath and hand soaps and conditioners, toilet paper, washcloths, and towels. Depending on how many people are in your group and how long your visit is for, you may need to purchase more toilet paper, soaps, and consumable restroom items. We have hair dryers and vanity mirrors in both bathrooms for your use. Don’t forget your toothbrush and personal hygiene items. 

Laundry Room: 

We have a laundry room with an iron and ironing board and a clothes washer and dryer available for your use. Upon check-in, you will find a few laundry washing detergent pods in a zip lock bag in your guest gift bag to get you started.

Please enjoy the complimentary gift bag from our family to yours. Inside, you will find a variety of goodies to make your stay all that much more comfortable and memorable. Forgot your sunglasses or sun tan lotion, how about a chapstick to go along with that and a beach towel to lay out on the sand? We got you covered.. Ready to fire up that pizza oven and get your dough started? The first one is on us.. Forgot a beach toy for the kiddos; we got that covered too.
